The Marianas Resource Conservation & Development Council is doing a lot of work in the Lao Lao Bay area in 2006-2007.  We are
coordinating with Coastal Resource Management (CRM), Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and CNMI Forestry on a NOAA funded
revegetation project.  We are also coordinating with DEQ on the Stream Team, which is an all volunteer storm water sampling project.

Some of the best diving in Saipan is in Lao Lao Bay.  These projects aim to protect the coral reefs by reducing the level of erosion and
sediments in the streams and on the reef flat.  Doing so will ensure that diving continues to be an important component of the local
economy.

You can get to the beach and the dive site by taking Lau Lau Bay Road from the village of San Vicente.  The road washes out when
there is a lot of rain, so it may be best if your car has four wheel drive.  If you would like to schedule a field trip to the revegetation site,
please contact RC&D.
