Managaha is the small barrier island you can see sitting about a mile off the West Coast of
Saipan.  The waters surrounded Managaha are part of a Marine Protected Area, so some of the
best snorkeling and SCUBA can be found there.

The beaches on Managaha are probably the most beautiful in Micronesia,  with white sand,
abundant vegetation, a view of Saipan on one side and a view of the Philippine sea on the other.

Managaha is a sacred place for the Carolinians living on Saipan.  Chief Aghurubw was the
Carolinian navigator who brought the first Carolinians back to Saipan after the Spanish removed
all the Chamorros.  He is believed to be buried on Managaha.

You need to take a ferry or a boat (which can be arranged through a hotel or travel agency) to
get to Managaha and there is a $5 landing fee once you get there.  There is a concession
selling food and drinks, but the prices are greatly inflated, so I would recommend bringing a
packed lunch or food to grill on one of the public bbq pits.
