RC&D is working with different community groups and government agencies on several
revegetation projects on Saipan.  All of our revegetation projects are designed to slow
down erosion and to cut back on the amount of sediment washing into our streams and
out onto our coral reefs.

We are working with the CNMI Watershed Group, which includes CNMI Forestry,
Coastal Resource Management, and Division of Environmental Quality on the Lao Lao
Revegetation Project.  This is a NOAA funded project designed to improve the health
of the coral reefs in Lao Lao Bay.  The government agencies have provided the
expertise and the planning and RC&D is coordinating with community groups and
individuals to recruit volunteers to carry saplings and shovels up the mountain and to
do the plantings.

We are also working with Beautify CNMI!, which is a community group consisting of
government and private sector entities on several other planting projects around the
island.

Visit our blog and scroll through the archives for pictures and anecdotes from our
weekly plantings.
Scientific data will be made available on this website as it is gathered
in the field.
